Char Siu (BBQ Pork)
Ingredients:
2 lbs Pork butt (shoulder), cut into long strips
Marinade:
2 tbsp Hoisin sauce
2 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Soy sauce
1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
1 tsp Five-spice powder
2 drops Red food coloring (optional, for traditional look)
Instructions:
Mix marinade. Coat pork strips and marinate overnight in the fridge.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place pork on a rack over a roasting pan with water in the bottom (to catch drips/steam).
Roast for 20 minutes.
Flip, brush with leftover marinade, and roast another 20 minutes.
Broil for 2–3 minutes to char the edges. Slice thinly.
