Char Siu (BBQ Pork)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs Pork butt (shoulder), cut into long strips

  • Marinade:

    • 2 tbsp Hoisin sauce

    • 2 tbsp Honey

    • 1 tbsp Soy sauce

    • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine

    • 1 tsp Five-spice powder

    • 2 drops Red food coloring (optional, for traditional look)

Instructions:

  1. Mix marinade. Coat pork strips and marinate overnight in the fridge.

  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place pork on a rack over a roasting pan with water in the bottom (to catch drips/steam).

  3. Roast for 20 minutes.

  4. Flip, brush with leftover marinade, and roast another 20 minutes.

  5. Broil for 2–3 minutes to char the edges. Slice thinly.
