Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients:
4 Green (unripe) tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
1 cup All-purpose flour
2 Eggs, beaten with 2 tbsp milk
1 cup Yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black pepper
1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Set up three bowls:
Bowl 1: Flour mixed with salt and pepper.
Bowl 2: Egg and milk mixture.
Bowl 3: Cornmeal, breadcrumbs, and cayenne mixed.
Dip tomato slices in flour, then egg, then the cornmeal mixture (press to adhere).
Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet to 375°F (190°C).
Fry tomatoes in batches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with a little extra salt. Serve with Remoulade or Ranch.
