Southern Cornbread
Ingredients:
1 cup Yellow cornmeal
1 cup All-purpose flour
1/4 cup Sugar (optional)
1 tbsp Baking powder
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
1/3 cup Vegetable oil or melted butter
1 large Egg
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch skillet or baking pan.
In a large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add buttermilk, oil/butter, and egg. Stir until just combined.
Pour batter into the prepared skillet.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and edges are golden.
Serve warm with butter and honey.
